The AMC AMX was American Motors answer to the popular pony cars. Built to be a two sports car, the AMX was recognized for it's excellence in engineering. Numerous versions of the AMX were built for racing in the Trans AM series, NHRA, and other racing series. The AMC AMX was introduced in 1968 as a two-seat sports car that was also designed to compete with the Mustang and Camaro. The AMX was available with a range of high-performance engines, including a 390-cubic-inch V8 engine that produced up to 340 horsepower. The AMX was also notable for its short wheelbase and aggressive styling, which included a long hood and a sloping rear deck.
